May 29, 2018 Central Penn employee wins award

Rubina Azizdin received a Torch of Golden Enlightenment award by the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg on Thursday, May 24. She serves as an associate director of career services at Central Penn College.

Azizdin is being recognized for her long-standing efforts at advancing understanding of global affairs in the region. She is the founder of the female-focused R.E.A.L. Networking Group, which stands for relationships, empowerment, authenticity and laughter. She also organizes the annual Women’s Leadership Forum at the college, a popular networking event for female executives, entrepreneurs, business owners and academicians.

“This award comes as quite a surprise, and I’m extremely grateful to receive such an honor,” says Azizdin. The ceremony was held on the campus of Harrisburg University of Science and Technology in downtown Harrisburg.

Previous award recipients include Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Pedro Cortez and Bishop Nathan Baxter.

Earlier this year, Azizdin received a Woman of Excellence award from YWCA Greater Harrisburg. In addition, Susquehanna Style magazine and Central Penn Business Journal, along with  the college’s Knightly News Blog, have featured stories on her in the last year.

“It’s humbling to be recognized, but the real work occurs outside the spotlight,” says Azizdin.
