January 22, 2014 December 2013 Male Athlete of the Month
While the Central Penn Knights battle to qualify for the national tournament, consistency is crucial. Sophomore shooting guard Conner Arnold has been just that for the Knights this season, which led to Arnold being named Athlete of the Month for December. Arnold is averaging double figures in scoring and shooting at a high percentage from behind the three-point line. However, his consistent play stretches further than just offensive aspects of the game. Arnold is averaging two steals a game and has displayed strong defensive efforts up to this point in the season.
The second-year guard has stepped up for the Knights, taking on multiple roles for his team this year. Arnold explained that he tries his best to “lead by example and play hard on defense, as well as bring instant energy to the team and provide a constant spark when on the floor.”
To prepare for this season, Arnold worked very hard during the off-season with Coach Shawn Lewis at Lewis' Hard to Guard camp. In addition to the camp, he spent many hours in the gym by himself working on his overall game.
Arnold also mentioned that he enjoys playing in front of the home crowd and feels it gives him a mental advantage knowing that he has such a strong support system. The conclusion of the Knights' regular season schedule is approaching, so be sure to make an effort to support our team as they make a run at this years’ championship title.
