In our digital life, 0’s and 1’s are floating everywhere. If you have the drive and desire to decode their message, Central Penn College’s Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology is just what you need to help you reach your career goals!

At Central Penn, our IT program was designed to develop a new generation of leaders to excel with the complex and dynamic demands of the current marketplace. Our program develops professionals who have in-depth knowledge of computers and computer applications. If you would like to further specialize your study, you may choose from two dynamic and exciting concentrations: Applications Development or Networking and Security.

As you study Information Technology at Central Penn, you will become immersed in the IT world. Explore technology in our newly renovated IT lab as you learn how to understand and apply accepted IT principles, gain mastery-level skills in understanding network and system security, and even create and edit your own working programs.

While learning about data communications and networking, our IT students will gain real-world experience translating business requirements into accurate and effective technical requirements. Our experienced, credentialed faculty members will give you the hands-on educational experience that will help you reach your goal of becoming an IT professional.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants entering the IT Bachelor’s degree program should possess at least a 2.0 GPA (C average) with a strong background in written and oral communications. Students must have completed two units of high school math, including Algebra. Prior experience with the Windows OS is required.

Internship/Capstone Course

As a career-oriented college, and in addition to our hands-on curriculum, Central Penn requires all students to complete an internship or capstone course. This opportunity allows students to participate and experience their future careers in the real world. Internships are 180 hours in length and include a research project tailored to the individual's career path. 

Continuing education and online students may complete a capstone course in place of the traditional internship. This can be done at both the associate and bachelor’s degree level. This course requires an extensive research project and paper related to the student’s chosen career path.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Approved by: the Secretary of Education and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to award the Master’s of Professional Studies degree, the Bachelor's of Science degree, the Associate’s in Science degree, and the Associate in Applied Science degree.
