At Central Penn College

Message from the Dean’s Office

Welcome to the School of Nursing and Health Sciences! My name is Dr. Krista Wolfe and I am currently serving as the dean. It’s an honor to be part of this exceptional group of faculty, staff, students and clinical instructors.  Every day I am astounded by the faculty within the department as well as the entire college.  Their leadership, inspiration, commitment to excellence and their students are the true driving force behind the success of the programs within the Health Sciences.

I began my career in education within the health sciences over 10 years ago, in the PTA program, when it was incorporated within the division of Legal Studies and Applied Sciences. At that time there were only two healthcare programs on campus, Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) and Medical Assisting (MA). During my time here at Central Penn, the department has grown by leaps and bounds.

The first new program was the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program, which was quickly followed by the expansion of our PTA program to our Lancaster Center. Then in 2015, three new bachelor's degree programs were created, approved and implemented.  Radiology sciences, healthcare management and nursing (RN to BSN) began enrolling students in 2015-2016. The department grew so much that a new building was created on campus. In 2015, we opened the doors to the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler health sciences building. The team of faculty within the Health Sciences are driven, successful, hardworking, caring individuals that devote their careers to educating healthcare professionals. These credentialed faculty are able to bring real-life experiences to the classroom through lectures and hands-on laboratory experiences in our state of the art laboratories on campus.

Many students who have made the decision to pursue a career in the medical field have made life-altering changes in order to become a part of these programs. Some students have left friends, family, jobs and possibly the comforts of home, reprioritized their finances, incurred debts and many other changes in order to pursue their dreams.  In spite of these challenges, each student has entered these accelerated programs, and have approached the task with dedication and commitment. We the faculty and staff of the health sciences, are excited that we were chosen to assist in the process of making these dreams a reality for the future therapists, managers, nurses and medical assistants within our programs.

A message to future students: You’ve already accomplished something significant by entering Central Penn College’s health science programs. As you progress through your program, I hope each of you cherishes the journey along the way that will lead you to the point of graduation. As faculty members, we learn from each of you and remain in awe of your intellect and determination, your creativity, and your passion for your future careers. Set your sights high and prepare to write the next chapter of your book of life as you prepare for a career in the medical field. The next piece of this journey is up to you.

I wish you the best on your educational journey with us.

- Krista Wolfe, DPT, ATC, Dean
