Judith Dutill serves as the Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) and as Assistant Professor of Communication at Central Penn College. She co-created an open access resource for faculty, The Online Lecture Toolkit, developed to support the needs of educators who want to create effective online video content.

Personal Bio

As a communication scholar I enjoy spending massive amounts of time indulging my love for media and calling it research. I also enjoy spending time with my family, being a mom, and listening to live music. I can usually be heard Sundays on 91.7 FM where I co-host a radio program, merging all of my aforementioned interests.

Teaching Philosophy

It is always my desire to construct knowledge through meaningful learning experiences, but I cannot accomplish this alone. Collaboration is essential in the communication classroom. Often, I learn alongside my students as we explore case studies and work in teams to solve problems. Collaborative problem-based and project-based learning are favored pedagogical approaches in my courses, even in the online modality. Though, I believe students are ultimately responsible for their own learning, collaboration always yields results that are greater than what we could accomplish on our own. I want students to leave my classes with a greater appreciation for communication and a clearer understanding of their role in it--practicing communication is essential to achieving this.
