Faculty Who Care
Luke Donato, M.A.
I just finished my Master's in Mathematics in May 2016. I started teaching at Central Penn in the summer term of 2016.
I am very proud to have grown up in Lancaster County. I originally wanted to be a high school math teacher, but made the decision not to do that during my undergraduate education. After receiving my Bachelor's, I ended up working at a camp and at a YMCA in Virginia. It's been surprisingly beautiful to see how those jobs have unexpectedly prepared me for my job here at Central Penn.
I love math. I strive to have my teaching very obviously reflect the fact that I love math. I try to think of questions to ask that will lead students to think in such a way that they see the beauty hiding within mathematics. Another important focus in my teaching is to try to show how new concepts are extensions of previously learned concepts whenever possible. Also, it's important to me to have students spend time working through the concepts individually.
