Central Penn College - Accounting Bachelor's and Associate Degree Programs

Central Penn College

Accounting

Bachelor's and Associate Degrees

More than just debits and credits, the accounting bachelor of science and the accounting associate in science degrees at Central Penn College provides students an opportunity to immerse themselves in real-world learning. Students are taught by our highly experienced faculty members who maintain their CPA certifications so they can teach you industry standard practices.

After learning the fundamentals of accounting theory, students will experience hands-on learning using computer applications, including TaxAct and Drake. By utilizing these computer tools, Central Penn graduates can build their résumés, even before they graduate.

Accounting students become investigators, learning to problem solve and research accounting and financial data issues and procedures. Students learn to interpret generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards, and apply them to the business environment.

Central Penn accounting students learn to properly interpret, analyze and prepare financial statements for a number of industries, including manufacturing, retail, service and non-profit or government entities. All of this leads to graduates who are well-rounded and able to tackle accounting in a number of different fields.

Admissions Requirements

All applicants must successfully complete, with a "C" or better, two units of secondary math, to include algebra. This adequately prepares students for learning the upper-level college math required in the programs and within specific courses. Completion of at least one accounting course in high school is strongly recommended.

Internship/Capstone Course

As a career-oriented college and in addition to our hands-on curriculum, Central Penn requires all students to complete an internship. This opportunity allows students to participate and experience their future careers in the real world. Internships are 180 hours in length and include a research project tailored to the individual's career path.

Continuing education and online students may complete a capstone course in place of the traditional internship. This can be done at both the associate and bachelor’s degree level. This course requires an extensive research project and paper related to the student’s chosen career path.
