Central Penn College - Circulation

Central Penn College

To borrow anything from the Charles "T" Jones Leadership Library you will need a valid photo ID (such as your student ID).

Borrowing Books

Books, except items in reference and on reserve, circulate for the length of the term. Reference books are for library use only and may not be checked out. Reserve items may be checked out for two hours for use in the library. The reserve collection contains some of the required books for classes that are currently running, and headphones. Obtain reserve items from the circulation desk; your ID will be held until items are returned.

Borrowing A/V materials

A/V materials, such as DVDs, may be borrowed for seven days.

Borrowing Laptops and Games

Laptops* and games may be borrowed for three days.

Renewing Items

Items may be renewed if there is no previous request for them. Laptops will only be renewed twice.

Reserving Books

You may place a reserve on a book that is in circulation. We will notify you when it is returned and available for your use.

Inter-Library Loan

The loan period and fees of items requested from other libraries are determined by the lending library. The due date will be circled on the paperwork included with the item when you pick it up. Failure to return items in a timely manner will result in a hold on your account in the business office.

Tracking Your Borrowing

You can keep track of the books that you have borrowed and their due dates. Go to the "My Library - My Account" button on the library catalog's main page. When setting up your account, your student ID# will need to have 'cp' in front of it (i.e., cp12345). It is recommended that you set your PIN # to something you can remember (for instance, use your Blackboard PIN). The library will not be able to see your PIN.

Overdue/Lost Materials

For all items, fines will begin to accrue the day after the item is due (not counting days the library is closed). Most overdue materials are subject to a fine of 20 cents per day, laptops will accrue fines at $2.00 per day. If the item has an hourly loan rule (i.e., reserves) then the fine is 20 cents per hour. Up to three notices will be sent to your Central Penn College email address. The loss of any material should be reported immediately. If the material is not found, the borrower is obligated to pay for replacement of the material, plus a $15 billing and processing fee. All materials must be returned by the last day of each quarter. If by the last class day of each quarter materials have not been returned and fines paid, a hold will be placed on the student's account in the business office. Fines accrued during the term may result in the loss of borrowing privileges. The hold will be released when the materials have been returned and fine paid or replacement cost plus processing fee paid. Questions concerning fines should be taken to a librarian.

* To borrow a laptop, your library account must be in good standing and you must read, agree to, and sign a Library Laptop Lending Agreement.
