Full-Time Staff: Administrative Assistant & Receptionist - Summerdale

Central Penn College is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Summerdale team. This position will provide the college with front desk and reception duties, in addition to completing daily administrative tasks and data entry into our student tracking database.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Enrollment Management, this position additionally supports the VPEM office with administrative functions and scheduling.

Requirements include two years of administrative office experience, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, and exceptional customer service and telephone skills.  This position also requires organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Experience in higher education and an Associate degree are preferred.

Full-Time Staff: Public Safety Officer - Summerdale

Central Penn College is in search of a Full-Time Public Safety Officer to provide overall safety services to the College and its constituents. Schedule is Sunday – Thursday, 11 pm – 7 am.

 Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Patrol of designated areas of the College by foot checking for safety hazards, unlocked doors, assisting students, faculty, staff and visitors. 
  • Checking for suspicious and/or illegal behavior, enforcing parking violations, providing assistance during emergencies and special events support for special events and emergencies, providing emergency first aid or CPR
  • Providing escort services for business office and other personnel.
  • Assistance during fire and other emergency drills, and evaluation of drills.
  • Assistance in evacuations during fire or other threats to the campus community.
  • Provide logistical support during emergencies and critical incidents, including setting up and removing traffic control equipment: barricades, flares, cones, etc.
  • Provide building security as needed during major incidents on campus.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in public safety, security or related field.
  • Student-centered customer service skills.
  • Ability to interact well and maintain strong, professional relationships with students, faculty, staff, the community and local law enforcement agencies.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude even under trying circumstances.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal including the ability to interact with a diverse population. 
  • Ability to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions and translate information accurately and effectively to others.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and independence in determining priorities and handling situations.

Full-Time Faculty: Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education, Nursing

The Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) supports continuing development of the Nursing Program, teaches assigned courses, and ensures the delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education to the Central Penn Nursing students. The ACCE arranges for, and oversees, the completion of the clinical internship experiences, supervises practicum experiences, and evaluates each clinical site to ensure that it is providing the proper educational experiences for the students.

Under the direction of the Program Director, the ACCE will facilitate a residential BSN program and an RN to BSN Program. Candidate will be responsible for the establishment and continued development of the clinical sites, including maintaining affiliation agreements, clinical site requirements and all associated documentation. The ACCE will implement strategies to promote the recruitment, advising and retention of students, course scheduling and oversight of clinical placements, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the clinical practicum and internship program quality and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; providing guidance to full-time and part-time faculty teaching within the program; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum development, working collaboratively with members of the larger College community and regulatory and accrediting agencies to determine course offerings, complying with requirements for curriculum, faculty and students.
  • Ensuring clinical experiences meet accreditation standards and are in sequence for students to fulfill BSN requirements.
  • Teach/manage assigned courses.
  • Oversee internships and capstones with visits to sites as needed.
  • Actively participate in continuing education seminars and programs and maintain a current, active, unencumbered Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN license.
  • Active participation in the Central Penn College Faculty Senate with membership on at least one standing Faculty Senate Committee.
  • Attend at minimum one technology training per year to stay up-to-date with technology usage in the classroom. 
  • Provide academic guidance and advising to students regarding careers.
  • Participate in admissions and marketing activities relative to the program. 
  • Ensure students are securing internships and employment in the field through utilization of networking opportunities, advisory board and community outreach.
  • Represent the Department through participation in the activities of professional and civic organizations and foster relationships that open doors for internships and employment. 
  • Appropriately role model and enforce the BIG EIGHT policies and philosophies of Central Penn College.

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Master’s Degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required; willingness to complete a doctorate degree in five years 
  • Five years of clinical experience in nursing with a current unencumbered Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN license 
  • Two years teaching experience academic or clinical education, preferably in a postsecondary nursing program
  • Experience with maintenance of academic programs in accordance with curriculum standards
  • Knowledge of PA Board of Nursing accreditation standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Full-Time Faculty: Nursing – Summerdale

A full-time Nursing Faculty member assists the Nursing Program Director/Chair and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) with the development of the Nursing program, teaches assigned courses to traditional daytime students and continuing education students in both on-ground and online formats, ensuring delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education and services to Central Penn Nursing students. The faculty member may also serve as a laboratory assistant for courses within the Nursing core courses. Full-time Nursing Faculty will teach both didactic and clinical portions of assigned courses and will supervise any additional Clinical Instructors/Faculty Assistants required to maintain the clinical student to faculty ratio of not more than 10 students to one faculty, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the didactic and clinical education for assigned courses; maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach/manage assigned courses
  • Provide timely and complete student evaluations
  • Maintain clinical expertise in area of clinical instruction through continuing education, maintaining an unencumbered license  in the state of Pennsylvania, and maintaining or obtaining specialty certification in area of expertise
  • Work with the regulatory and accreditation organizations to ensure that academic programs and the staff who provide education services meet and exceed the requirements for the type of program they support
  • Actively communicate to fellow faculty, staff and students the need for the highest level of ethical behavior in all program activities
  • Actively participate in the Central Penn College Faculty Senate with membership on at least one standing Faculty Senate Committee

  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience in medical-surgical, pediatric, OB/GYN, mental health, ICU or emergency care
  • Specialty Certification preferred
  • Two years of progressive teaching experience in an educational environment
  • Possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse License in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the College’s academic program leaders and to represent the College to the public, and community and accreditation agency representatives

Central Penn seeks part-time faculty positions to teach general Information Technology courses. We are looking for instructors to teach during the day at the Summerdale campus.

Part-Time Faculty: Clinical Instructor – Nursing - Summerdale

The Clinical Instructor/Assistant Faculty supports continuing development of the Nursing Program, teaches assigned courses, and ensures the delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education to the Central Penn Nursing students. The Clinical Instructor will provide clinical education in a specified area of expertise in collaboration with the faculty member responsible for providing didactic instruction.

Under the direction of the didactic faculty, the Clinical Instructor/Assistant Faculty will oversee the clinical instruction of no more than 10 students in the assigned clinical facility, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the clinical practicum in collaboration with the didactic faculty; maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • 1-3 years of progressive teaching experience in an educational environment
  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse License in the state of Pennsylvania

Part-Time Staff: Student Services Assistant

Central Penn College is in search of a Part-Time Student Services Assistant to provide administrative and program support services to our Student Services team. Typical work schedule is Monday through Thursday, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. for 24 hours per week.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing all outgoing college mail, maintaining mail machine, monitoring email and follow-up, coordinating resolution of Comcast-related issues.
  • Assisting in preparation of student housing packets, maintaining student housing files and various student records
  • Processing and tracking Appearance Policy Violations
  • Supporting Residence Life Director in organizing and executing New Student Move-In Day
  • Assisting in preparation of residential key packets
  • Providing receptionist function

The position requires a general and business knowledge equivalent to a High School Diploma (Associate degree preferred) with 2 – 3 years of related administrative support experience and valid PA Driver’s License. Be proficient in Microsoft applications. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective interaction with senior management, faculty and students. Demonstrate organizational and decision making skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow through.
