Full-Time Faculty: Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education, Nursing

The Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) supports continuing development of the Nursing Program, teaches assigned courses, and ensures the delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education to the Central Penn Nursing students. The ACCE arranges for, and oversees, the completion of the clinical internship experiences, supervises practicum experiences, and evaluates each clinical site to ensure that it is providing the proper educational experiences for the students.

Under the direction of the Program Director, the ACCE will facilitate a residential BSN program and an RN to BSN Program. Candidate will be responsible for the establishment and continued development of the clinical sites, including maintaining affiliation agreements, clinical site requirements and all associated documentation. The ACCE will implement strategies to promote the recruitment, advising and retention of students, course scheduling and oversight of clinical placements, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the clinical practicum and internship program quality and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; providing guidance to full-time and part-time faculty teaching within the program; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum development, working collaboratively with members of the larger College community and regulatory and accrediting agencies to determine course offerings, complying with requirements for curriculum, faculty and students.
  • Ensuring clinical experiences meet accreditation standards and are in sequence for students to fulfill BSN requirements.
  • Teach/manage assigned courses.
  • Oversee internships and capstones with visits to sites as needed.
  • Actively participate in continuing education seminars and programs and maintain a current, active, unencumbered Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN license.
  • Active participation in the Central Penn College Faculty Senate with membership on at least one standing Faculty Senate Committee.
  • Attend at minimum one technology training per year to stay up-to-date with technology usage in the classroom. 
  • Provide academic guidance and advising to students regarding careers.
  • Participate in admissions and marketing activities relative to the program. 
  • Ensure students are securing internships and employment in the field through utilization of networking opportunities, advisory board and community outreach.
  • Represent the Department through participation in the activities of professional and civic organizations and foster relationships that open doors for internships and employment. 
  • Appropriately role model and enforce the BIG EIGHT policies and philosophies of Central Penn College.

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Master’s Degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required; willingness to complete a doctorate degree in five years 
  • Five years of clinical experience in nursing with a current unencumbered Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN license 
  • Two years teaching experience academic or clinical education, preferably in a postsecondary nursing program
  • Experience with maintenance of academic programs in accordance with curriculum standards
  • Knowledge of PA Board of Nursing accreditation standards

Full-Time Faculty: Nursing – Summerdale

A full-time Nursing Faculty member assists the Nursing Program Director/Chair and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) with the development of the Nursing program, teaches assigned courses to traditional daytime students and continuing education students in both on-ground and online formats, ensuring delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education and services to Central Penn Nursing students. The faculty member may also serve as a laboratory assistant for courses within the Nursing core courses. Full-time Nursing Faculty will teach both didactic and clinical portions of assigned courses and will supervise any additional Clinical Instructors/Faculty Assistants required to maintain the clinical student to faculty ratio of not more than 10 students to one faculty, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the didactic and clinical education for assigned courses; maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices.

  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience in medical-surgical, pediatric, OB/GYN, mental health, ICU or emergency care
  • Specialty Certification preferred
  • Two years of progressive teaching experience in an educational environment
  • Possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse License in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the College’s academic program leaders and to represent the College to the public, and community and accreditation agency representatives

Full-time Faculty: OTA Fieldwork Coordinator – Summerdale

Central Penn College is in search of an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Fieldwork Coordinator to join our OTA program faculty. 

In coordination with the OTA Program Director, the OTA Fieldwork Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Providing overall coordination and continually developing the Occupational Therapy Assistant program’s Fieldwork Level I and II education.
  • Ensuring the Fieldwork program reflects the sequence, depth, focus and scope of content in the curriculum design.
  • Collaborating with faculty to design fieldwork experiences that enhance the ties between didactic and fieldwork education.
  • Maintaining compliance with ACOTE accreditation standards and implementing AOTA guidelines for fieldwork education.
  • Securing an appropriate number of fieldwork sites to meet the needs of the students enrolled in the OTA program, in settings that are equipped to meet the curriculum goals, provide educational experiences applicable to the academic program, and have clinical educators who are able to effectively meet the learning needs of the students.
  • Developing and teaching courses as part of a high quality academic program that imbues students with positive personal attributes and prepares them for professional success.

Full-time Faculty: Program Chair, Graduate Studies - Summerdale

The Program Chair works closely with the Dean of the School of Professional Studies as an ambassador of the Central Penn brand, leading by example and holding themselves and others accountable for delivering on the mission of the College. This role supports the ongoing growth and improvement of the Graduate Studies program.

This position has authority to act on behalf of the College in the areas of oversight within the school to include teaching guidance for full and part time faculty, including compliance with program accreditation standards, and overall quality. It also carries accountability for operating results in this same area. This position works closely with faculty to ensure program level assessment is conducted and students are achieving program learning goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze program effectiveness to ensure quality academic offerings including periodic program reviews.
  • Research and develop new programs, seek appropriate accreditation and assist in marketing and implementing programs.
  • Actively participate in opportunities to highlight programs and speak about programs offered within the school.
  • Manage Graduate Studies faculty and foster continuous improvement and professional development.

Part-Time Faculty: Clinical Instructor, Nursing - Summerdale

The Clinical Instructor/Assistant Faculty supports continuing development of the Nursing Program, teaches assigned courses, and ensures the delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education to the Central Penn Nursing students. The Clinical Instructor will provide clinical education in a specified area of expertise in collaboration with the faculty member responsible for providing didactic instruction.

Under the direction of the didactic faculty, the Clinical Instructor/Assistant Faculty will oversee the clinical instruction of no more than 10 students in the assigned clinical facility, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the clinical practicum in collaboration with the didactic faculty; maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices.

Part-time Faculty: English - Summerdale

Central Penn College invites applications for a part-time faculty position to teach introductory courses in composition. 

Successful candidates should possess:

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Rhetoric and Composition, English or related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college-level, especially in a writing cycle or first-year writing program.
  • Exhibit a high level of sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and academic backgrounds.

In coordination with the OTA Program Director, the OTA Adjunct Faculty is responsible for:

  • Developing and teaching courses as part of a high quality academic program that imbues students with positive personal attributes and prepares them for professional success.
  • Attending monthly staff meetings to ensure that appropriate standards are being met across all students
  • Providing expertise in: Mental Health/Mental Illness, Physical Dysfunction, Therapeutic Techniques, Anatomy and Physiology, Human Development, Medical Terminology and/or Abnormal Psychology.

An Admissions Counselor is responsible for contributing to Central Penn College’s approach of providing an education that eliminates boundaries, opens new horizons and turns potential into career success.

Duties include:

  • Knowledge of Central Penn College programs, features, locations – with the ability to clearly communicate information in a professional and consistent manner.
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective students within 24 hours.

Full-Time Staff: Counselor - Summerdale

Central Penn College is in search of a mental health counselor to provide counseling services, workshops and programming to its students.

Under the supervision of the Dean of Students, this position will provide support to students through counseling, case management, programming and crisis intervention.  The Counselor helps Central Penn achieve its mission by supporting students in their goal of attaining a degree.     

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides counseling support services to the students while working broadly with members of the college community.
  • Provides intake assessments, individual and group counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Works collaboratively within the Student Services department and others at the College to foster a holistic model of wellness.
  • Represents the Counseling department on College committees, projects and initiatives.
  • Provides leadership in the coordination of case management and crisis intervention.
  • Provides consultation and makes recommendations to the Dean of Students, Public Safety, Student Alert Team and other College committees and employees as appropriate on mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • Assists in the development of effective policies, protocols, processes and structures to ensure the health, safety and welfare of students.
  • Develops relationships with community agencies and off campus practitioners to create an off-campus referral network.
  • Assists with training of staff and faculty members along with the development of peer education programs.
  • Establishes crisis communications and provides crisis emergency evaluations and interventions.
  • Develops and maintains a manual and web resources documenting policies and procedures for counseling students.
  • Analyzes counseling needs and field related trends.
  • Makes recommendations to improve the counseling services for students.   

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field with 2-5 years of related experience in mental health counseling.
  • Demonstrated skills in individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, consultation, assessment, consultation, and outreach.
  • Detailed knowledge of developmental issues and problems typically encountered by college students.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision and training when applicable.

Full-Time Staff: Financial Planning Coordinator - Summerdale

Central Penn College is in search of a Full-Time Financial Planning Coordinator to accurately, effectively and promptly respond to needs of prospective students and their families regarding financial matters in an organized, helpful and friendly manner.  The Financial Planning Coordinator works with the Admissions Counselors and others but does not take on their responsibilities (i.e. assisting with issues not relating to financial planning).

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve prospective students and their families through all stages of the financial planning process. 
  • Develop financial aid plans consistent with policies and procedures and with regard to Federal/State regulations.
  • Answer any questions relating to financial aid, costs and payments of those costs.
  • Assist students and parents who visit the campus with questions and concerns about the financial aid process and the final steps to enrollment at Central Penn College.
  • Provide counseling to incoming students and families regarding the types and sources of financial aid programs, the application process and the availability of financial aid.
  • Assist students and parents with the completion of all financial aid forms. Provide any necessary assistance whether in person or via telephone/email communication.
  • Aid as a liaison to local high schools, providing financial aid workshops to students and their families; therefore promoting the institution and building positive working relationships within the local region.

Full-Time Staff: Nursing Program Director - Summerdale

The Nursing Program Director will facilitate the development, implementation and assessment of the College’s new BSN program.  This includes responsibility for promotion of and daily operations of the baccalaureate pre-licensure nursing program in accordance with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State Board of Nursing regulations and the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education standards. The position will also provide academic and administrative leadership for the RN to BSN program.   

The Director is responsible for:

  • Curriculum development working collaboratively with members of the larger College community and regulatory and accrediting agencies, to determine course offerings.
  • Ensuring courses meet progression and are in sequence in order for students to fulfill BSN requirements and financial aid requirements.
  • Oversight of curriculum and ongoing evaluation of students, faculty, and overall program. 
  • Coordinating admission process and determining student candidacy and admission to the program.
  • Interviewing RN to BSN applicants for admission into the program.
  • Recruiting and retaining qualified faculty for the program. 
  • Establishing partnerships with clinical agencies for student internships. Conduct periodic clinical site visits, ensuring adherence to program standards and student health and safety at clinical sites.
  • Responsible for compiling and submitting external program accreditation reports as required.
  • Developing and teaching one or more courses per term as required.  
  • Supervising full and part time program faculty including evaluation and holding them accountable for teaching excellence.
  • Representing the department through participation in the activities of professional and civic organizations.

Qualifications: 

  • Earned Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in baccalaureate nursing education.
  • Must possess an active, unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Knowledge of various accreditation standards for nursing programs.
  • Experience in undergraduate curricular development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Experience in administrative leadership gained through previous similar position(s), such as program coordinator, faculty chair or related administrative role within higher education.
  • Knowledge of current educational requirements, trends and issues in undergraduate education, including simulation.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communications skills and working knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Full-Time Staff: Technical Support Specialist - Summerdale

Central Penn College is in search of a Technical Support Specialist to provide audio/visual support, oversee all printer administration and provide classroom technical support. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 10:00 am – 7:00 pm; Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with flexibility to work evenings and weekend hours if needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist faculty with classroom technology: SmartBoards, projectors, Smart podiums, computers and mobile devices.
  • Assist with the Help Desk on various technical issues.
  • Primary contact for audio/visual needs. Support all campus projectors, video and sound equipment.
  • Implement centralized and standardized video-conferencing system.
  • Act as a liaison with Marketing & Communications department for recordings on Central Penn’s website.
  • Primary contact for printer support. Act as a liaison to vendor for monitoring support.
  • Maintain printer & supply inventory.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Associate’s degree or certification required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in audio/visual technology, general computer support.
  • Experience with use and maintenance of video conferencing equipment.
  • Experience in training and assisting others to use various audio/visual classroom equipment.
  • Ability and/or experience in dealing with third-party vendors.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, faculty and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
