Full-Time Staff: Admissions Counselor, Summerdale

Do you enjoy speaking with a variety of people?  Are you able to paint a picture with words alone?  Do your friends describe you as persistent, yet friendly?  Can you juggle multiple tasks and remain organized? If so, then Central Penn College is looking for you to join our Admissions team as a full time Counselor.

An Admissions Counselor is responsible for contributing to Central Penn College’s approach of providing an education that eliminates boundaries, opens new horizons, and turns potential into career success.

Duties include:

  • Knowledge of Central Penn College programs, features, locations – with the ability to clearly communicate information in a professional and consistent manner
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective students within 24 hours
  • Interact with and assist potential students through the enrollment process, including responding by phone and email to student inquiries, scheduling and conducting admissions interviews, and communicating with the enrolled student prior to the term start as well as throughout the first term
  • Maintain appropriate documentation regarding student contact in admissions software programs
  • Attend on-campus and off campus events, including networking and open house enrollment events
  • Interact with the College’s personnel, (i.e., faculty, Deans, support staff, administrative staff) as required
  • Evening hours and a Saturday rotation required

Full-Time Staff: Counselor, Summerdale

Central Penn College is in search of a mental health counselor to provide counseling services, workshops and programming to its students.

Under the supervision of the Dean of Students, this position will provide support to students through counseling, case management, programming and crisis intervention.  The Counselor helps Central Penn achieve its mission by supporting students in their goal of attaining a degree.     

Responsibilities include:

  • Provides counseling support services to the students while working broadly with members of the college community.
  • Provides intake assessments, individual and group counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Works collaboratively within the Student Services department and others at the College to foster a holistic model of wellness.
  • Represents the Counseling department on College committees, projects and initiatives.
  • Provides leadership in the coordination of case management and crisis intervention.
  • Provides consultation and makes recommendations to the Dean of Students, Public Safety, Student Alert Team and other College committees and employees as appropriate on mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • Assists in the development of effective policies, protocols, processes and structures to ensure the health, safety and welfare of students.
  • Develops relationships with community agencies and off campus practitioners to create an off-campus referral network.
  • Assists with training of staff and faculty members along with the development of peer education programs.
  • Establishes crisis communications and provides crisis emergency evaluations and interventions.
  • Develops and maintains a manual and web resources documenting policies and procedures for counseling students.
  • Analyzes counseling needs and field related trends.
  • Makes recommendations to improve the counseling services for students.   

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field with 2-5 years of related experience in mental health counseling.
  • Demonstrated skills in individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, consultation, assessment, consultation, and outreach.
  • Detailed knowledge of developmental issues and problems typically encountered by college students.
  • Demonstrated skills in supervision and training when applicable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with other departments on campus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the College's mission and vision.
  • Strong crisis management skills.

Full-Time Staff: LMS Administrator, Summerdale

Central Penn College is in search of Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator, specifically for our Blackboard Learn and Blackboard Community platforms.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Provost, this position will collaborate with faculty and staff in the support of online courses and supplemental materials that serve to engage students. This position manages backend and training aspects relating to the LMS and helps faculty integrate features in a pedagogical manner.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide advanced support for LMS users.
  • Consult with instructors, designers and other users to determine appropriate and effective solutions using the LMS and integrated applications.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions and new user orientation for the LMS and integrated applications. Create instructional materials.
  • Continually evaluate the benefits and risks to upgrade to new versions or add new functionality.
  • Plan and lead projects to release new tools, features and versions.
  • Collaboratively work with IT to manage the software environment, including testing and implementing new releases, add-ons or integrated services; coordinating and resolving technical issues with vendor support.
  • Create and maintain documentation of internal policies and procedures relating to the LMS; create self-help resources, web content, etc.
  • Gain an understanding of college curricular priorities such as student learning outcomes assessment, accessibility, and inclusive excellence, and assure they are addressed through LMS offerings.
  • Assist with the maintenance of online courses.
  • Explore new technologies for potential application to instructional requirements.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, computer science or related field is required; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in LMS administration, with proficiency in Blackboard products preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Windows platform and experience using multiple browsers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects including strong ability to communicate and work effectively with faculty and staff
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Online teaching experience using Blackboard is preferred.
  • Ability to commute to the Lancaster center on a regular basis.

Full-Time Staff: Office Manager, Lancaster

Central Penn College is seeking an experienced administrative professional to join our Lancaster team.

Under the direction of the Center Director, this position will perform a number of duties in support of the Center’s students, faculty and staff.

Responsibilities in support of the office include providing front desk reception and phone coverage and coordinating coverage with other staff members; facilitating room rentals; maintaining supplies; coordinating facility needs; maintaining the Lancaster Center calendar and Blackboard Community page.

Academic-related duties include assisting with course scheduling and faculty staffing; assisting students with registration; creating student ids; coordinating the student tutoring schedule; assisting students with Blackboard; event planning; and other special projects.

The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, possess great organizational and telephone skills and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.  Respect for confidentiality is essential. This position requires flexible hours to assure students and faculty are well served during evening hours.  A Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred, as is experience in a higher education environment.

Part-Time Staff: Assistant Women's Soccer Coach

Central Penn College, a regionally accredited four year degree granting institution with numerous career-oriented programs is seeking candidates for an Assistant Women’s Soccer Coaching position for an anticipated start date in July 2015. Central Penn College is a member of the USCAA and competes on a national level for small colleges.

Qualified candidates must have previous college soccer playing experience along with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required. Previous college or high school coaching experience preferred. Experience recruiting student athletes is a plus, but not required.

Full-Time Faculty: Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education, Nursing

The Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) supports continuing development of the Nursing Program, teaches assigned courses, and ensures the delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education to the Central Penn Nursing students. The ACCE arranges for, and oversees, the completion of the clinical internship experiences, supervises practicum experiences, and evaluates each clinical site to ensure that it is providing the proper educational experiences for the students.

Under the direction of the Program Director, the ACCE will facilitate a residential BSN program and an RN to BSN Program. Candidate will be responsible for the establishment and continued development of the clinical sites, including maintaining affiliation agreements, clinical site requirements and all associated documentation. The ACCE will implement strategies to promote the recruitment, advising and retention of students, course scheduling and oversight of clinical placements, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the clinical practicum and internship program quality and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; providing guidance to full-time and part-time faculty teaching within the program; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum development, working collaboratively with members of the larger College community and regulatory and accrediting agencies to determine course offerings, complying with requirements for curriculum, faculty and students.
  • Ensuring clinical experiences meet accreditation standards and are in sequence for students to fulfill BSN requirements.
  • Teach/manage assigned courses.
  • Oversee internships and capstones with visits to sites as needed.
  • Actively participate in continuing education seminars and programs and maintain a current, active, unencumbered Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN license.
  • Active participation in the Central Penn College Faculty Senate with membership on at least one standing Faculty Senate Committee.
  • Attend at minimum one technology training per year to stay up-to-date with technology usage in the classroom. 
  • Provide academic guidance and advising to students regarding careers.
  • Participate in admissions and marketing activities relative to the program. 
  • Ensure students are securing internships and employment in the field through utilization of networking opportunities, advisory board and community outreach.
  • Represent the Department through participation in the activities of professional and civic organizations and foster relationships that open doors for internships and employment. 
  • Appropriately role model and enforce the BIG EIGHT policies and philosophies of Central Penn College.

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Master’s Degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required; willingness to complete a doctorate degree in five years 
  • Five years of clinical experience in nursing with a current unencumbered Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN license 
  • Two years teaching experience academic or clinical education, preferably in a postsecondary nursing program
  • Experience with maintenance of academic programs in accordance with curriculum standards
  • Knowledge of PA Board of Nursing accreditation standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Full-Time Faculty: Nursing – Summerdale

A full-time Nursing Faculty member assists the Nursing Program Director/Chair and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) with the development of the Nursing program, teaches assigned courses to traditional daytime students and continuing education students in both on-ground and online formats, ensuring delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education and services to Central Penn Nursing students. The faculty member may also serve as a laboratory assistant for courses within the Nursing core courses. Full-time Nursing Faculty will teach both didactic and clinical portions of assigned courses and will supervise any additional Clinical Instructors/Faculty Assistants required to maintain the clinical student to faculty ratio of not more than 10 students to one faculty, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the didactic and clinical education for assigned courses; maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach/manage assigned courses
  • Provide timely and complete student evaluations
  • Maintain clinical expertise in area of clinical instruction through continuing education, maintaining an unencumbered license  in the state of Pennsylvania, and maintaining or obtaining specialty certification in area of expertise
  • Work with the regulatory and accreditation organizations to ensure that academic programs and the staff who provide education services meet and exceed the requirements for the type of program they support
  • Actively communicate to fellow faculty, staff and students the need for the highest level of ethical behavior in all program activities

  • Possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse License in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the College’s academic program leaders and to represent the College to the public, and community and accreditation agency representatives

Part-Time Faculty: Clinical Instructor – Nursing - Summerdale

The Clinical Instructor/Assistant Faculty supports continuing development of the Nursing Program, teaches assigned courses, and ensures the delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education to the Central Penn Nursing students. The Clinical Instructor will provide clinical education in a specified area of expertise in collaboration with the faculty member responsible for providing didactic instruction.

Under the direction of the didactic faculty, the Clinical Instructor/Assistant Faculty will oversee the clinical instruction of no more than 10 students in the assigned clinical facility, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the clinical practicum in collaboration with the didactic faculty; maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
