Concerned about safety on the Central Penn Summerdale campus? The Central Penn College Safety and Security Department on the Summerdale campus consists of five full-time safety and security officers and one part-time officer. The safety and security officers perform a wide range of duties including, but not limited to: enforcing campus regulations, handling investigations on campus and performing vehicle and foot patrols. The safety and security officers may be trained in first aid, CPR, Automated External Defibulators (AED), blood borne pathogens, Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Training (OCAT), Monadnock Expandable Baton (MEB), Monadnock Defensive Tactics Systems (MDTS), Advanced Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) and hazardous communication standards.
The security department is located on the first floor of Bollinger Hall, room 43 and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you require the assistance of the security department, you may contact them at (717) 728-2364. If safety and security officers are not present in the office, please use the white courtesy phone located directly outside of Room 43. Within a few seconds, you will be connected to the safety and security officer on duty.

Anonymous Reporting
In certain instances, a crime victim may be reluctant to file a
report fearing the loss of their identification or confidentiality.
In such circumstances, crime victims are encouraged to consider
making an anonymous report to a member of the student services
office, or online. At minimum, crime
victims will receive valuable counseling and referral information.
Confidential reports are important because they provide valuable
information that will enhance the safety of the community-at-large
and they will at least provide a more accurate portrait of actual
campus crime. (Remember, help is available, all you need to do is
ask.)
Identification Card
Every member of the College is required to have a Central Penn
ID card. To obtain your ID card, go to the safety and security
department in Room 55 of Bollinger Hall. The safety and security
department will make ID cards for the first two weeks of each term.
Continuing education students and students attending at locations
other than the main campus will be provided with a contact person
who will issue student ID cards. Replacement cost for a lost,
damaged or stolen identification card will be $10.
Your ID card will serve for the entire time that you are at
Central Penn. It will serve as a library card, a debit card for the
Scoozi Café and primary identification as a member of the College.
This card may also be used for admission to labs, facilities and
any College activities. Many local businesses will also provide
discounts to students with a valid ID card.
Lost and Found
Items found on campus should be turned in at the Safety and
Security Department in Room 55 of Bollinger Hall. All lost items
may be claimed through the Safety and Security Department with a
brief description of the lost items. Items may be discarded at the
end of each academic term.
Parking Enforcements and Regulations
Reporting Criminal Activity
Central Penn College community members are strongly encouraged to immediately report criminal activity, hate/bias motivated incidents and any/all suspicious person(s) to the Central Penn College safety and security office. The Safety and Security Department has primary jurisdiction and responsibility for investigating crimes and providing security protection and services to the Central Penn College community. The safety and security office is located on campus in Bollinger Hall, Room 43. In addition, you may report a crime to the following areas: vice president, dean of students, assistant dean of student services, residence life director, safety and security coordinator, senior resident advisor, Lancaster Center dean, Lehigh Valley dean or athletic director.
Safety and Security Awareness Training
Periodic seminars and educational programs are provided by
Central Penn College promoting awareness of sexual assaults,
acquaintance rape and other sex offenses. The frequency of such
programs varies per term. For more information, students should
contact the Student Services Office.
Security Escorts
Escorts are provided by the Safety and Security Department for members of the campus community between on-campus parking areas, housing and academic buildings. Escorts are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling (717) 728-2364.
Timely Warning Notices
Situations/incidents that the College consider a crime and pose
an ongoing threat to students and employees are quickly brought to
the attention of the campus community through a combination of
campus email, the College's website, social media and physical
posting of bulletins in residential areas by student services
personnel.
Vehicle Assistance
Automobile Lockout
Students who find that they have locked their keys inside their vehicle are strongly encouraged to contact an automobile repair facility or locksmith. Safety and security officers are not equipped to handle these types of service calls and, therefore, cannot attempt an automobile lockout. Students should keep a spare key to their vehicle separate from their main key ring. Listed below are some local locksmiths.

Battery Assist
Students who find that their vehicle's battery may not be functioning properly can contact the Safety and Security Department to sign out a vehicle "booster" pack. Students must produce a valid driver's license, and safety and security will hold the license as collateral until the unit is returned. Students agree when taking possession of the booster pack to return it to the Safety and Security office in proper working condition. Safety and security officers will inspect the equipment prior to the release to the student and after the equipment has been returned. Any damages sustained to the equipment will be billed in full to the student. If students are unable to start their vehicle, then it is recommended that they contact an automobile repair facility for assistance.
