Teaching Philosophy
I believe that the classroom should be a safe, positive, and open environment for students to freely express their opinions and thoughts. I treat each and every one of my students with respect. In turn, I expect that students will respect one another, respect our profession and respect me as their instructor. I aim to bring excitement, an open-mind, enriched knowledge and a positive environment to the classroom on a daily basis. I have an active and hands-on approach to learning and firmly believe that to become the best clinicians, students must be comfortable, confident and competent in their skills.
Bio
Taylor Lentz is a licensed and certified athletic trainer and a licensed physical therapist assistant. She earned her bachelor’s in Athletic Training from Bridgewater College. Following graduation, she practiced athletic training for a local high school where she primarily worked with the men and women's basketball programs. “As much as I loved working with the athletes on the sidelines, my real passion was in rehabilitating athletes following an injury,” she says. “My drive to rehabilitate injured athletes in the athletic training room opened my eyes to physical therapy.” After earning her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Central Penn College, she was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, where she primarily worked with older patients in the rehabilitation center during the day. During the evenings, she served as the athletic trainer for a local high school. She transitioned into academia in January 2018, when she joined Central Penn College as a full-time instructor with the Physical Therapist Assistant program. To remain competent and up-to-date in her field, she continues to work on an as-needed basis in the outpatient physical therapy setting. Originally from Lebanon, Lentz now lives in Harrisburg with her husband, Dustin and their son, Rowan. Her hobbies include reading, hiking and traveling. “Family is one of the most important aspects of my life and I try to spend as much time with my husband and son as possible,” she says.
