Central Penn College’s Black Student Union To Host Juneteenth Celebration
The community is invited to a free celebration of Juneteenth on Friday, June 16th, as the Black Student Union at Central Penn College hosts an Art Show with original pieces from the PAVAA Gallery in Lancaster, followed by an evening of music, dance and theatre with the acclaimed John Graves Productions of Philadelphia.
The event begins in the College’s Conference Center at 4 pm with unique art pieces from the Lancaster-based PAVAA and light hors d’oeuvres, until 5:30 pm.
At 5:30 pm, in the Capital Blue Cross Theater on campus, an evening of music, dance and theater with the acclaimed John Graves Productions will be offered free for all CPC family and the community.
These events are part of a week-long celebration at the 141-year-old college in Summerdale, marking the emancipation of enslaved African Americans as the news of the end of slavery finally reached Texas.
The public is welcome to attend.
