Health Care Administration (Business Admin. Concentration)

Central Penn College’s Business Administration degree now offers a Healthcare Administration concentration is as part of our Business Administration bachelor’s degree program.

If you’ve ever waited in a crowded emergency room or doctor’s office to be seen by a provider, you know that the world of medicine involves far more than anatomy and biology. The business of health care is as complicated as the inner workings of the human body, and just as fascinating.

The day-to-day business of health care administration includes everything from accounting, insurance, and acquisitions, to staffing, purchasing, pricing, government mandates, and regulatory compliance.

The medical field desperately needs skilled managers and administrators who have the relevant education and experience to keep health care facilities and offices running smoothly and cohesively, from check-in to check-out, and admission to discharge. Finding the right people for the right roles is the medicine the system desperately needs in order to deliver high-quality health care, while maintaining a strong financial position. Understanding the complex interplay of forces that impact the health care industry is a must. Without it, administrative emergencies in the medical field can occur alongside true life-threatening patient emergencies, with life-altering consequences.

Health care‘s financial picture is a complicated mixture of public and private health insurance, state and federal laws, ever-changing regulations and policies, and more. Health care administrators are called upon to acquire and exhibit the knowledge and insight to examine the big picture in health care, diagnose emerging issues, and prevent and treat problems.

Central Penn College’s health care administration concentration addresses this need by giving students a behind-the-scenes look inside the complex interplay of forces, sectors, policies and politics affecting health care. Students will learn about the key players in the health care industry and how they should work together in an efficient and empathetic environment. This concentration will prepare students to fill important administrative and strategic planning positions within all levels and sectors of the health care industry.

If you have what it takes to become the strategic decision-maker behind doctors, nurses, and other critical caregivers and staff, this concentration will help you write your own prescription for success.
