Central Penn College’s Ann Hoffman Named a 2025 Health Care Hero

Ann Hoffman Central Penn College Dental Program Director

We are thrilled to announce that Ann Hoffman has been recognized as a “Health Care Hero” by the Central Penn Business Journal! Selected in the category of “Dental Specialists,” Ann will be honored alongside her fellow award winners at a special ceremony on April 3 at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel in Harrisburg.

Ann has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of dental education at Central Penn College. She has successfully pioneered and developed the college’s new dental programs, including the Dental Assistant and Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) programs. These initiatives are laying the groundwork for a full dental hygiene program. Her leadership has been instrumental in designing a curriculum that not only meets industry standards but also helps address the nationwide shortage of dental professionals, particularly in central Pennsylvania.

Her work goes far beyond program development. Ann has been deeply involved in every aspect of building these programs, including hiring faculty, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing budgets, and creating a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for real-world success. Her dedication to student success is both evident and inspiring.

A Distinguished Career in Dental Health

Ann brings nearly two decades of experience as a registered dental hygienist in various settings, including private practices, temporary assignments, and contract roles. Prior to joining Central Penn College, she worked with the Verber Dental Group from 2008 to 2023, where she gained extensive clinical experience while also showcasing strong leadership within a large group practice. Her commitment to continuous learning and professional development has been a defining characteristic of her career.

Currently, Ann is furthering her expertise by pursuing a Master of Science in Education with a Health Care Educator Core at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. She previously earned her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management from Central Penn College, graduating summa cum laude.

A Leader in the Dental Community

Ann’s dedication to the dental profession extends well beyond the classroom. She holds a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner License and a RISE Certificate from the Educators Platform, Conference for Lab and Clinical Coordinators. She is also an active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and a key stakeholder for the Pennsylvania Coalition for Oral Health. Through her extensive work with dental professionals—including dentists, hygienists, assistants, and EFDAs—she ensures that Central Penn’s programs align with the Pennsylvania State Dental Board’s guidelines.

Celebrating Ann’s Achievements

Ann’s passion for education, patient care, and workforce development has made a lasting impact on both Central Penn College and the broader dental community. Her tireless efforts are helping to shape the next generation of skilled dental professionals, ensuring they receive the high-quality training necessary to meet the growing demand in the field.

We are incredibly proud to have Ann on our team and congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations to our 2025 Health Care Hero, Ann Hoffman!
