Noah Baylor named Central Penn College Student Athlete of the Month

Senior Noah Baylor has been named the Student Athlete for November by Coach Dave Archer. For the 3–3 Knights, the 6’6” forward is averaging a double-double, 15.6 points and 11.1 rebounds a game.

What’s even more impressive is that Baylor has averaged 20 points a game in Central Penn’s three wins this season. Keep in mind two of the Knights’ losses came against NCAA D1 opponents, Morgan State and Campbell.

Baylor’s steady inside presence complements the outside shooting of guards Ryan Lawrence, Tyler White and Marquel Wansley.

A graduate of North Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown, Md., Baylor averaged 11.9 points per game for Central Penn during the 2018–2019 season, earning him USCAA 2nd Team All-American honors.

This is the second time in his career that Baylor has achieved Athlete of the Month honors. “Noah Baylor is one of our team captains,” said Coach Archer at the time. “He is a great example of a student athlete with excellent character on and off the court.”

We recently caught up with Central Penn’s leading scorer and rebounder via email to ask him about his season so far…

What are your goals team-wise and individually for the season?

NB: I would like for us to go from being a team to a family, so that we are there for each other on and off the floor. I also want us to obtain the number one seed and bring Central Penn their first national title.

My individual goal is to continue showing that who I am isn’t found in basketball or school, but my identity is found in Jesus. I just want to accomplish everything He has for me while giving glory to Him every step of the way.

This is your fourth year as a Knight. How has your game progressed during that time?

NB: The biggest thing for me has been playing with more confidence as each year has gone by.

You play tough defense, yet have remained out of foul trouble (which is tough to do). Any thoughts on that?

NB: I’ve honestly tried to play smart and have my teammates’ back on each play. I can only do so much sitting on the sidelines.

Next home game

You can catch Baylor and the rest of the Knights this Saturday, Dec. 8, as Central Penn takes on visiting Villa Maria at East Pennsboro High School. Tip-off time is 2 p.m.
