Central Penn College’s Education Foundation has teed up a host of scholarships for students with the news that its 51st annual golf outing raised $44,304.45, far surpassing its $40,000 goal.

Central Penn College’s Education Foundation has teed up a host of scholarships for students with the news that its 51st annual golf outing raised $44,304.45, far surpassing its $40,000 goal.

“Last year we raised $34,000, and that was a very good year,” Sandra Box, Director of the Education Foundation, said. “Our goal of $40,000 seemed ambitious, but thanks to the generosity of so many supporters, we achieved that and more!”

Thirty-six teams took part in the outing, held on Aug. 12 at Rich Valley Golf Course in Mechanicsburg.

Dr. Linda Fedrizzi-Williams, President of Central Penn College, said, “Although a spirit of friendly competition is one of the most enjoyable parts of the golf outing, the true winners are the students, because funds raised at this event go directly to support scholarships and educational needs.”

“This is our only annual fundraising event,” Box added. “We are so fortunate to receive support from our local business partners, alumni, faculty and staff. They know the challenges faced by our students and they always bring their A Game.”

Every year, the Education Foundation provides more than $250,000 in scholarships to Central Penn students. “These funds are critical to helping students remain enrolled and graduate,” says Box.
