Central Penn College COVID-19 Masking Update
Good Morning, College Community,
Effective immediately, masks are no longer required in buildings on the Central Penn College Campus or in the Lancaster Center. The positivity rate of faculty, staff, and students infected with COVID-19 has been under .007% since Feb. 1. We were at .001% this week. We have been very fortunate to be well under the 5% benchmark utilized by many K-12 institutions and area colleges to determine mask usage.
In addition, Dr. Krista Wolfe surveyed all faculty about relaxing the mask requirement on campus, and the majority of faculty voted in favor of doing so. Faculty were asked about the requirement since they spend the longest, concentrated amount of time with students on a regular basis.
Please be considerate of your colleagues and students and continue to carry a mask with you in the event that you are asked to mask in certain situations. Also, if you are directly exposed and in close contact with someone who tested positive to COVID-19, you will still be required to wear a mask. Contact tracers will let you know specifics related to your situation.
Contact tracing will continue. Please complete the health screening form via the app daily. This is critical in maintaining a safe environment for all students, faculty and staff.
Please note that masking requirements are subject to immediate change if guidance from the PA Department of Health changes, if cases in Cumberland and Lancaster Counties rise to substantial numbers again, or if the number of positive cases on our Campus or in our Center increase at a significant level (5%).
COVID protocols for reporting, testing and quarantining remain the same. Updated information can be found on our website: https://www.centralpenn.edu/covid. Please send any questions related to masking or protocols to COVIDinfo@centralpenn.edu and questions related to contact tracing to contacttracing@centralpenn.edu.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we navigate these ever-changing protocols together.
