Central Penn College Attracts Dozens of Baseball Prospects to Showcase at City Island

Central Penn College recently attracted a host of talented high school athletes from as far away as Florida, Pittsburgh and Baltimore during a highly successful Baseball Prospect Day at FNB Field on City Island.

Head Coach Chaz Stevens was particularly impressed by the maturity and engagement of the participants.

“Many of the athletes actively interacted with our current players and coaching staff, asking thoughtful questions about the recruiting process and the college,” Stevens said.

The unique venue at FNB Field was a highlight for the participants. Many of the participants expressed their excitement to be playing at a professional stadium. City Island’s FNB Field grounds crew, which included current Central Penn College Knight Colton Zerby, helped ensure that the event ran smoothly.

“It’s encouraging to see the interest these highly competitive high school athletes have in Central Penn College,” said Stevens. “The Mid-Penn is filled with talent, and leveraging that pipeline will be crucial for our baseball program’s long-term success.”

While the event focused on students interested in Central Penn College, organizers were fortunate to have representatives from other colleges and even current professional athletes in attendance to enrich the experience. The presence of so many area representatives provided the athletes with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills, learn and network.

“Central Penn College offers a unique opportunity for students to use their time here as a steppingstone to what’s next,” said Stevens. “Earning a degree while also balancing their athletic commitments provides students with a unique set of life skills and will benefit them no matter what the ‘next level’ is for them.”

The students who came to Prospect Day were from areas that included Allentown, Annville, Baltimore, Braddock, Dover, Fayetteville, Hanover, Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster, Lewisberry, Middletown, Newport, Pittsburgh and York.
