Central Penn College Men’s Soccer Team Makes History as They Head to Nationals
Central Penn College’s men’s soccer team has made history, clinching a spot in the USCAA Small College National Championship Tournament for the first time. Under the leadership of Coach Brian Osborne, the Knights have soared to new heights, becoming Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) champions and earning the #2 seed for the championship tournament.
Building a Legacy at Central Penn College
Reflecting on his team’s achievement, Coach Osborne noted, “Good teams are coach-led. Great teams are player-led.” Since his appointment in 2021, Osborne has worked with a vision to elevate Central Penn College’s soccer program. In only his third season, the Knights have not only claimed the ESAC title but are now on the national stage.
Osborne attributes much of the team’s success to the culture instilled by the players themselves. “All the credit in the world goes to this group of high-character student-athletes,” he said. “This may be the easiest team I’ve coached, and that is a testament to the leadership of our captains and their teammates’ ability to follow selflessly.”
A College-Wide Achievement
The road to nationals has been a collaborative effort involving the entire Central Penn College community. “This is a college accomplishment, not just a program,” Osborne emphasized. “There are also a lot more people within this institution who deserve credit, and we are not done yet.”
The Knights’ exceptional season concluded with a 12-3 record and an undefeated 8-0 run in conference play. The team’s roster features only two upperclassmen in the starting lineup, underscoring the potential for sustained success in the seasons ahead. With only six upperclassmen on a 25-man roster, Central Penn College’s soccer program is building a foundation for future championships.
