Jenelle Dulack: Achieving a Dream Career in Storytelling
When Jenelle Dulack stepped into her office for a PennDulum online interview, her polished black-and-white outfit contrasted sharply with the vibrant, technicolor life she leads. A producer, editor, and photographer at Fox43 News WPMT in York, PA, Jenelle embodies creativity, passion, and resilience—traits nurtured and refined at Central Penn College.
A Storyteller at Heart
Growing up in Jackson, New Jersey, Jenelle’s passion for storytelling emerged early. With a camera seemingly destined to find her, she explored her love for capturing moments and creating narratives. Her father’s Puerto Rican heritage gave her a unique lens through which to view the world, instilling a deep awareness of global and national issues.
While her high school experience in the AFJROTC program hinted at a future in the military, her true calling led her to Central Penn College, where she initially enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant program. But Jenelle’s heart belonged elsewhere. Guided by inspiring professors like Paul Miller and Michael Lear-Olimpi, she pivoted to a Communications major, where she could fully embrace her passion for storytelling.
A College Experience Like No Other
“I couldn’t have gotten a better education,” Jenelle said of her time at Central Penn. The small, close-knit campus allowed her to explore every facet of communications, from radio and TV to print and public relations. Professors tailored her education to her interests, creating opportunities for her to thrive.
Jenelle became a campus leader, serving as President of the Knight Way broadcast club and mentoring fellow students. Her contributions to the Knightly News student-run publication, where she reported on diverse populations, won her accolades, including a Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association award.
Her professors remember her as a determined and compassionate storyteller. “She always had the ability to find and tell amazing stories,” said Professor Miller. From documenting emotional support animals on campus to producing a powerful PSA about Central Penn’s West Shore Connect program, Jenelle’s work inspired peers and faculty alike.
Turning Education into Action
After graduating in 2022, Jenelle hit the ground running, landing roles that allowed her to hone her skills and build her portfolio. From working as a social media manager and videographer to producing captivating news segments at Fox43, she has never stopped pushing boundaries.
Her groundbreaking recidivism project, a three-part series on reducing repeat offenses, showcased her ability to tackle complex social issues with compassion and rigor. At Fox43, she also produces feel-good stories like “On the Bright Side” segments, spotlighting uplifting community efforts such as combating homelessness and the joys of “Dopamine dressing.”
“There’s something new to learn every day,” Jenelle said. “If you stand in still water for too long, you’re going to miss the boat.”
